Surfing the Holyland

Presented By: Slackline Productions

Event name 24 29 Aug 2022

'Oh, we have sharks here...but they're not in the water.' When a wide-eyed American moves to Tel Aviv, how does she navigate the waters of the mad Middle East? She learns to surf, of course! With colourful characters, comedy songs and one shiksa's search for chutzpah, this classic fish-out-of-water tale blends bighearted comedy, electrifying storytelling and bold physicality. A fast-paced solo show exploring female empowerment written and performed by Erin Hunter, one-half of award-winning comedy duo, Hunt the Vigan. 'Charming, funny, irreverent...delightful ukulele numbers.' (Audience Review, Brighton Fringe). 'Creative and funny and brave.' (Keshet TV).

Funny, funny, funny...did I say funny, it was!!. Highly charged, full throttle fun, with the added up and downs of life.

Review by Robert, Fri 29 Jul 2022

Funny, heart warming and insightful. Erin has so much stage presence - it certainly doesn't feel like a one woman show.

Wonderful show - tackles the chaos and challenge of modern life in a very moving way, but is also very escapist and silly. You won’t regret seeing this high energy, funny show!

Review by Emily, Mon 01 Aug 2022

You'll really enjoy this especially if you've had the experience of moving away from your own homeland to another place - Erin captures the humor of this brilliantly. It doesn't over simplify the challenges of these experiences, but pokes at them, playfully and at times sincerely. Also comedy ukulele songs? I feel it's quintessential fringe!

If you only do one thing today – book your tickets for ‘Surfing The Holyland’. A ‘must see’. Erin Hunter skilfully plays every one of her beautifully written comic characters in this energetic one-woman show. It’s a laughter workout which will leave you begging for more. Nothing short of brilliant!
